In my opinion, as a photographer and as a parent, a good photo of my child doesn’t necessarily need to show the full attention of my subject. I snapped some shots of my boys yesterday while they were drawing on the driveway after a dip in the neighbor’s pool. Neither of the boys were looking at the camera because they were so enthralled in their art. To me, and I am sure to most moms, capturing a moment like this is precious. So if your child doesn’t want to look into the camera take the picture anyway. A fun picture that captures the mood of the moment can be more valuable than one is that forced.

I couldn’t resist one more photo of my beautiful friend and her adorable little one. It is always a treat to catch a glimpse of this loving relationship. I snapped this photo while baby E was napping and being held while the three boys ran a muck all around us.
No wonder her mamma kisses her all the time. She is 100% adorable and look at those beautiful brown eyes! This sweet little thing is the daughter of a good friend of mine and I am lucky enough to see her almost every week. Today I ceased the chance to nab a few photos after a diaper change. Watch out girl…I see many photo sessions in your future.
I really have found it a challenge to make time for myself lately. Maybe this lack of free time is due to the excessive heat, the endless hours spent at the pool, or the fact that we have ceased all day time television watching at our house. Regardless, I hope to carve out a bit more time to maintain (and perhaps promote) this blog and to work a bit more on my budding business. I had the pleasure of photographing a darling three month old little girl and her parents last weekend. They have to be one of the most relaxed trios I have ever met. Here is just one of the images from the session, and one my favs.

A little bit about me and why I chose to start a photography business…I am 37, am half introvert half extrovert, a creature of habit, and a creative soul. Photography has been the perfect outlet for my creative side. I snap pictures here and there throughout the day and edit them (or not) when I have a larger chunk of time to sit down by myself. Sometimes I set up backdrops and ask (or bribe) the boys to pose. The best is when I ask them to “act like dad” for the camera. It’s too funny. My photography has brought me a lot of joy and I hope it will for you too.

No rain here, but finally a little bit of time for myself. I was determined to get this blog up and running. So take a peek around and let me know what you think.
By the way, I love taking pictures against a chalkboard like I did with the photo above. Just think of all the possibilities.

Welcome everyone! This is my first post on Tumblr and my first post for what I hope will become a thriving photography business. I rediscovered my passion for photography after the birth of my twin boys. It took me a few years to find the time to delve back into it, but I haven’t looked back since.
